THE BRIEF

giving three generations of toolmaking a website that tells it.

Columbia Tool & Die cuts dies and machines parts to tolerances most industries never need — for aerospace, automotive, and medical manufacturers who very much do. Behind the shop floor sits a story worth telling: a toolmaking line running three generations deep, from a postwar ordnance factory in Australia to a purpose-built plant in West Columbia, South Carolina — a company named Columbia before it ever arrived in one. Its website told none of this. The old site scattered the shop across a dozen equipment pages, buried the certifications, and left the history untold. The brief: sharpen the mark, rebuild the site around how customers actually evaluate a machine shop — and then keep it running, year after year.

WHAT WE DID

01

the mark, re-cut

  • Refreshed the Columbia Tool & Die wordmark for the rebuild — cleaned and reweighted so it holds from a shop-floor sign down to the favicon in a browser tab.
  • Delivered it as a full working set — print, screen, and inverted — so the mark stays consistent everywhere the new site puts it.

02

the rebuild

  • Wireframed the architecture first, then rebuilt the site on WordPress — twelve scattered equipment pages folded into one capabilities hub a buyer reads in a single scroll, opened with the shop floor at work in the hero.
  • Built every page on the shop's real proof — CAD engineering renders, the machines themselves, and the ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications — with a drawing-upload quote path never more than one scroll away.

03

the history, finally told

  • Rebuilt the About page as the story it deserved to be — three generations of Grooms, from Melbourne's toolrooms to South Carolina, laid out as a timeline through the family's own archive photographs.
  • Moved the practical company facts to the homepage, so the About page could belong entirely to the history.

04

and now, kept running

  • Brought the site onto Kronikon's own managed hosting and took over its day-to-day care directly — core, plugins, security, uptime, and backups kept quietly current.
  • Turn content changes around the day they're asked, so the site always says exactly what the shop needs it to.

THE OUTCOME

a shop that measures in microns, given a site cut just as clean.
